We all know that while vacations are supposed to help you relax, it can sometimes be busier you’re your everyday life! Getting out of your routine, it can be easy to forget your daily oral hygiene routine. Here are some tips to help you prepare to take care of your smile while traveling:
It helps to pack travel-sized oral hygiene tools. Try packing a toothbrush with a cover to keep the bristles clean and bacteria away from other tools in your hygiene bag. When it comes to toothpaste, make sure to check the size. Remember, liquids that weigh more than 3.4 ounces are not allowed on aircrafts, so if you are packing a carry-on, make sure your paste is light enough to meet the weight requirements. As for floss, choose your favorite—whether they are floss picks, a reusable flosser, or good old fashioned shred-resistant floss.
It’s likely that you will be eating delicious foods at various restaurants, many of which are packed with acid and sugar—the exact foods your teeth don’t like. That’s why it’s all the more important to brush your teeth for two minutes every morning and every night.
You can also carry sugarless gum with you to chew after meals while on the go. This helps promote saliva production, which in turn neutralizes acid and washes away bad bacteria from your mouth.
You’ll also want to floss your teeth at least once a day. You can even carry floss with you in your purse or wallet and floss during any spare moments.
