The Process of Getting Dental Veneers

Posted .

Want to correct your tooth imperfections with dental veneers? Get ready to upgrade your smile. Dental veneers are wafer-thin durable sheets of porcelain that are placed over your teeth, designed to disguise any chips, discolorations, or other imperfections. In order to place these veneers properly, a few steps are required, which could mean two separate appointments. Here are the details:

First, we will consult with you about your desires for your smile and come up with the best treatment plan for you. Then, Drs. Gilreath, Antonio, and Panton will inspect your teeth and gums to make sure this solution is the perfect one for you.

Second, we will prepare the teeth to receive the veneers, by trimming down your tooth enamel. Normally, only a half millimeter is removed from each tooth. When your teeth are ready, they will make a dental mold of them called impressions and will send them to a dental lab where your veneers will be custom made for your mouth. You will be fitted with temporary veneers while the permanent veneers are crafted.

Finally, at your second appointment, our dentists will bond the permanent veneers to the faces of your natural teeth. We will double-check the fit, size, and color of the veneers to make sure they are perfect for your smile. Then we will deep clean your teeth, after which we will use a dental-grade cement to adhere the veneers to your teeth and a blue laser to help the cement to harden.
